"There is an almost sensual longing for communion with others who have a larger vision. The immense fulfillment of the friendships between those engaged in furthering the evolution of consciousness has a quality almost impossible to describe.”

- Pierre Teillard de Chardin

Several years ago I was inspired to create a meeting place on the internet where individuals committed to establishing actuality in their lives could read articles on various topics relevant to living contactfully as well as share their experiences and support each other. This section of my website is the beginning of bringing this dream to fruition. It is my hope that the ideas presented here will provide direction finders for your journey towards wholeness and liberation and may even offer a foundation for conversations with others…because I believe healing takes place in contact. And a community based on this growth-oriented approach towards living may have the potential of moving the world at large towards a peace so necessary, I believe, for the conditions of today.

In this era where love relationships may begin and end at a click of a button, I invite us to take some time to reflect on what is involved in building and then maintaining a mutually satisfying relationship.  I would like to point out that the success or failure of any relationship is dependent on […]

A Brief Description of Our Aim

I got the impression that a friend of mine was struggling to understand why we embark on this courageous and sometimes arduous journey in the name of freedom.  The following was my response to him: As you relax your ego (or identify less with your personality structure), you move closer to your Authentic Self or […]

In this season of gifting (and receiving), I can’t help but wonder if what people really need in the midst of all this stress is compassion, not only for themselves but for each other too. What I see instead is a lot of self-indulgence.  So what is the difference between self-indulgence and self-compassion and why […]

Contact and Change

It is common knowledge in the field of psychology that pain or neurosis is imbedded in fear.  Most psychotherapies attempt to identify the source of fear in the hope that by understanding it intellectually, we overcome it and then are cured.  However, it is my experience that analysis and understanding alone do not necessarily evoke […]

Why is Immediacy necessary?

There are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says, “Morning, boys.  How’s the water?”  And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, “What […]

The Gestalt Therapy Hour

I would like to invite you in to the present moment: What are you aware of? What is most concernful at this moment (check inside for body processes or thoughts about past, present and future; check also outside through contacting the world through your five senses)….This is FIGURE. All these figures arise from your particular […]

The Contact Cycle

The contact cycle forms the basis of the gestalt approach. The idea assumes that anything we want or need goes through a sequence of stages: We are at rest and our field of consciousness is undifferentitated. A need or want emerges and we begin to become differentiated – we may consider this an urge that […]

What is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram describes nine different ways of relating to the world, one of which you made unconsciously your own. Some psychologists refer to this as identity or the “once and for all” solution to a limitation in the environment early on or to protect a specific aspect of the self that felt threatened as our […]

Five Questions To Live By

Asking yourself these five questions can help you come into this moment: What am I doing? (what is observable) What am I experiencing? (thoughts, feelings, sensations) What do I want? (need or desire) What do I expect? (futurizing) What am I avoiding? (can often be “what is”) Keep a practice journal and begin to note […]

Facets of Unity

The longer I work with my clients the more they are beginning to experience the transpersonal realm.  I, therefore, thought it might be a good idea to outline some of its features.  The following article is influenced by a paper that Jim Doak shared with his trainees on the same subject. GT is based on […]
